Let's Build on What We've Started— Together.

"I've made it my mission to be a mayor that listens, learns, and leads — with your best interest at heart. Sylacauga deserves steady leadership and a vision for progress. I ask for your vote and your support to continue that work."

I’ve always believed in finishing what I start.

I’ve always believed in finishing what I start. I proudly served in the U.S. Army, active duty
from 1961 to 1965 and U.S. Army Reserves from 1965 to 1968 subject to recall. Since then, I’ve kept serving—leading the American Legion Post 45 as Commander for 16 years and serving as Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 945, 23rd District of 2nd Division of Alabama Commander for 2 years. After 37 years with Kimberly-Clark/US Alliance, most folks would have called it a day—but I chose a different path. I turned my focus to serving the people of Sylacauga as City Council President from 2008 to 2012, and as your Mayor beginning in 2012 and again from 2016 to today. During that time, I’ve helped lead major infrastructure improvements, delivered balanced budgets that were met with resistance, and exercised my authority to veto actions that didn’t serve the best interest of our city.

The more informed I am, the better prepared I am to make smart, forward-thinking decisions for
our community. I serve on the Industrial Development Board, the Planning Commission, the
Utilities Board, and the Housing Authority. I’m not there for the title—I believe the mayor of
Sylacauga should have a clear voice and a watchful eye inside every corner of city operations.
I’ve also served as liaison to the Parks and Recreation Board, Airport Board, Library Board,
Animal Shelter, Beautification Council, Tree Commission, Comer Museum, and Historical
Commission. I stay involved because this dog WILL hunt—and I’m not done yet.

Some folks think you can’t teach an old dog new tricks—but I’ve never believed that. Over the
years, I’ve taken every opportunity to learn, grow, and better serve the people of Sylacauga. I
was proud to be named Citizen of the Year by the Sylacauga Beautification Council and to
receive the Community Service Award from the Kiwanis Club, along with special recognition for
Dedicated Service to the City of Sylacauga. But I didn’t stop there—I earned my Planning &
Zoning Official certification from the University of North Alabama and my Municipal Official
certification from the Alabama League of Municipalities. Yes, I’ve seen a few more sunsets, but
I’ve also weathered more storms. I know how to steer the ship.

Take Action.

I’ve always believed leadership isn’t just about being elected—it’s about staying connected. If you believe in the work we’ve done together, and the work still ahead, I’m asking for your help. There are several ways you can support this campaign and make your voice heard.
